About Hi-Dez Homestead
Thank you for stopping by our newly "non-traditional" homestead page. We are thankful that you are here. We are a small family that does a little bit of a lot. We are located in Southeast Louisiana about an hour from New Orleans. We are hoping to move to Wyoming area when it is time to be retired in the future.
The name Hi-Dez stands for "high density", and due to the amount that happens in our suburban homestead we thought that was a fitting name for us.
We have a range of animals and hobbies here, what we can keep and do within our limits. We try to have a love for simple living and lots of creativity. When we get into a specific hobby or animal we think of how we may use them to the best of their capability and fully. My motto is "When you are able to use every part of an animal, in life and death, you are being respectful of that life."
I love my animals from the day they are born until the day they die. They are a part of our family that serves a purpose FOR our family. A lot of blood, sweat, and tears happen here but I wouldn't choose a different life. Life has moved us from pastures to yards and we are still here to learn to do what we can with the space and resources we have on hand.
We hope to gain the knowledge to better our communities and to help the next generation not lose the abilities to be sustainable as best they can with what they can.

As Natural as can be
While we are not 100% GMO free or all organic, we do strive to have our animals be as natural as they can be. This just means that while our animals are fed commercial feeds and given medications ( only when needed to keep them healthy) we aim to have them be as natural as we possibly can. My family eats what we produce and I would not want my family to eat harsh things that may hurt them, and I would not want that for anyone else.
Our rabbits are raised on a commercial feed and are cage kept so that no one gets sick from the wild bunnies and wool stays clean and spinnable. We have bunnies for meat, show, pets and for fiber. We do not breed during the heat of the summers due to the stress on our animals.
I hope this explains a little of how our animals live and how we try to be responsible with our products.
OUR STORY
Our Small Family Farm
We are a small family farm in Louisiana that does a little bit of a lot. We are a military family and veteran owned. We started our little farm in 2016, with a move into a subdivision in 2025. We are always learning and growing with each day. Our farm is always evolving as we do. At this time we raise rabbits (Netherland Dwarfs and French Angoras). We enjoy our little urban farm and our animals that live here.
