Passing Time.....

I always feel like I am doing a good job on my pages and blog posts but as I get busy and the days seem to fly by, I then realize that it has been a long time since I have edited or posted. This is why I can never become internet famous lol.
Things have been so busy in my daily life with spring bringing all the new babies to the farm and the show season starting to wrap up for the summer heat.
The angoras have been showing up lately at the shows. Esme earned 2 Reserve in shows and my FIRST EVER BEST IN SHOW!!! I am still over the moon a month later about the win. If I would have been asked a year ago if I would think that the angoras would be my main show string, I would have said no way. WELLLLLLL here we are lol. I still have my Rex but my numbers are low and that allows me to focus on keeping the best of the best to save my cage space which will , in theory, force me to get better as I go.
—The Rex are progressing and I am hoping to have a litter of tris in the box in a month. I am hoping that I get showables rather than the chin lines. The chins really are beautiful though and I may have them as a tiny little side project.
The kids are also doing ok on the rabbit front, we are in the works to breed some more Netherlands and even though the hollands have had problems this year we are still trying for babies.
—Tucker’s Hollands have been having problems this past year with missed breedings, phantom pregnancies, and stuck and dead kits born. Hollands are always the hardest of all of our breeds, as they are known to be. Hopefully the rabbit fairies will be kind to us for the next round of breedings so that we will have something to show for the fall season.
--Roxie’s little netherland doe “Cupcake” won Best of Breed against a full field at the LRBA state meeting show so we are hoping to breed her and get some more babies for her to show
--Our angoras are doing well and “Esme” was bred to “Chops” and they produced a single white kit. I am hoping that this kit will continue winning like its momma. The JRs are coming along nicely and I think this fall show season will be interesting to see how they all progressed through the summer heat.
The rest of the farm has been has been doing well too. Lambing went pretty smooth this round with it being a “Year of the Rams”. I plan to keep the little black ram born of the Gulf Coast Native Ewe. We are also keeping a weather from my Hampshire ewe “Matilda” for showing in 4H next year. Only two little ewes were born this crop and they are precious and will stay to add to the herd with the new rams “Gunner” and “Blackie”.
I will wrap this post up so that it don’t burn readers out on the general updates. As usual I will try to post as much as I can, as I think about it lol.
Happy Homesteading and much love.❤️
