The Hangover...

Now that this weekends rabbit show hangover has faded, many know with hobbies the hangover that comes from a busy weekend, I write to you.

This past weekend we had a rabbit show that was somewhat local, so we worked to get everyone groomed and ready to show. I wasn't sure how the weekend would go due to some things hindering my enjoyment of the event but I feel that it went better than I thought it would.

A friend of mine stays with me when we have shows around where I live and we have a tradition to get Taco Bell and daquiris and stay up and visit after the Friday night show, it is always worth the loss of sleep.

The Friday night show was fun, with me being the only entrant with satin and french angoras, the kids also did well with their rabbits. Saturday was a whirlwind of running all over the place, as usual, and moments that allowed me to sit for a bit to let my back rest. Again I was the only one showing angoras and the kids did well too.

This weekend has made me really think about how I will deal with the farm, showing, and all of the havoc that I wreak on my back. Yesterday I had my second screening on my back to so that I can have the RFI procedure (nerve ablation) and the concern is that with the lack of pain signals that I will over work my back and do more damage in the long run, it is a real fear to make it worse. I plan to minimize my farm and herd slowly so that I can take some of the stress off of myself so that if I need a down day, I wont feel guilty for taking it.

It has taken me a few days to write this post because I have had to think and ponder on how I planned to put my feelings into words.

I still plan to keep my rabbits and there are a few animals that I will hold onto until the end (Matilda, my sheep being the main large animal). I have to make decisions to take better care of myself so that I can hang around and keep up for a while to come.

Blessings and Happy Homesteading.
