Yesterday I took the opportunity to work the last few sheep that I didn't catch the other day at round up. With the heat bad most days I have learned to pick my battles and chasing sheep while having to work the herd isn't really what I want to be doing all at once.
I have been using the four-wheeler to help me haul all of my medicines and necessities around. I decided to try and round the sheep with the four-wheeler to save myself some headache of running on foot lol. That was not a very great way to do it, as the four-wheeler can only turn so sharp and sheep are quick and can turn on a dime, no matter how bad a foot is hurting. I decided to grab my rope to see if I could catch them with the loop and I quickly learned that a right handed person, that needs to throttle with said right hand, isn't going to be very accurate when throwing with the left hand (its not very useful). The rope would snag and catch on EVERYTHING or my left hand would throw it in some random spot nowhere near a sheep. I then would ride up and jump off the four-wheeler and throw the rope with my right hand and that was a tad more successful but not as much as I needed it to be. All the while cussing and saying loud enough for the dogs to hear ( like they could understand anyway) "I wish I had some ---- dogs that could be useful right now and know how to work some ---- sheep", (you can guess what the bleep words are). I finally caught and treated the four sheep (I bet you thought it was more didn't you) and went about my day.
That afternoon I went to visit my neighbors and they has said that they saw the whole thing and it was never a dull moment and it is always entertaining here. He said I "Looked like a bad episode of Yellowstone" lol.
This morning I rotated the herd to a new pasture and lets hope we get to keep the shenanigan's to a minimum for a few days, I need some rest.
Many blessings and happy homesteading.
